Namaste(na-ma-stay) is a common spoken greeting, commonly used in India and Nepal. I was aware of the greeting, having done some travelling at both places on pilgrimage and for work, but only know of the true meaning of it when I stumbled upon the translation today actually by looking for something completely different.
I was very touched by it.
Clasping of the hands, likewise in many other Asian cultures, when wishing someone only makes it more special. I was told that the clasping of the palms of our hands is a mudra which also symbolized our humility at that particular point, putting other peeps' interest above ours as we wished the person(s) well.
So, Namaste to all you, my dear family and friends!
May this new week bring you lotsa blessings of glad tidings. ^_^

Namaste to you too...
Namaste to you too! Next time I will greet SK with Namaste instead of just Vanakam. Everyone in India greets each other like that, so there should be peace in their hearts always.
Wow, I never knew that either. Namaste is so going to mean so much more when I say it next time. :)
Namaste! :)
it is also said that you position your clasp palms differently when greeting the elderly, peers and your juniors - on your forehead, on your nose, on your heart respectively..
namaste
I knew this greeting when I was in Nepal few years back. Thanks for sharing the meaning. :)
Hey Bro,
Namaste means: I honor the divine in you as much as I honor the divine in me, as we are ONE :)
Basically a sign of respect recognising each's Buddha's nature.
Oooer, Namaste to you too Ant!
Have a blessed week. :)
Dear All ~
