Boredoomed
When is the last time you were bored? I recall my earlier chat with a fellow blogger on facebook today who asked me how I was coping with life. I believe I gave one of one of the most foolish replies when I said that I was bored. In real fact, I don't believe in boredom. Being a working middle class Malaysian who has to earn his living, I can't possibly rest my fabulous arse long enough whilst getting the concept of being bored. Plus with all of the modern amenities, almost countless channels on astro, radio, books, etc how even on a cold rainy day one could have the audacity to say they were bored?! If I did make the rookie mistake of saying I was bored or that I even appeared to be bored then I would give myself some chore to do which was surely designed to teach myself not to be bored. kapish? ;) With this attitude that my parents held and thus rubbed off on me, I quickly found ways not to be bored. I found many ways to entertain myself, even on those emotionally barmy days.
Are you bored yet? :P LOL If not, please read on.........
To this day, I still cringe when I hear someone exclaim that they are bored. I just can’t imagine how anyone could possibly be bored, yet it does seem to happen. It may happen even more now than it ever has before. Why, one may ask, do people really become bored, or just fed up with the sometimes mundanity of lifes' chores?
We have become a culture of doers; many feel that they constantly must be doing something and/or that they must be entertaining or being entertained at the same time. We do live in interesting times where we as a society are constantly “doing”. The sad thing is that when we do take some time or accidentally find time where we are not doing; we often become agitated, not knowing what to do with ourselves. You will notice this loud shout by our fellow facebookers often enough.
Boredom is simply the state of believing that we should be doing something else, usually something we perceive is better than what we are doing at the moment.
Boredom then is quite simply a pattern of thoughts, an action of mulling over doing nothing. We choose to be bored. We never have to feel bored and when we do find ourselves slipping into what we would refer to as boredom than it is up to us to recognize this state of thought for what it is and choose to make a shift in our perception.
More often than not, we pause to question ourselves,
Are we bored with your relationship?
Are we bored with work?
or to an even larger extent,
Are we bored with our feeble-minded self?
I find that whenever I start to have the thoughts of boredom with any aspect of my life, then I would pause and ask myself why? How can I snap of the counter-productive thought and transform it into positive, which will change my action to remove the boredom?
Instead of freeing out time with all the many modern inventions, washing machines, microwave ovens, handphones, pcs, etc that were designed to lessen the amount of time we are doing the daily chores of life, in the end seems to have only given us more time to do more things in a day. Most people have learned to cram more into a day rather than learn how to relax and take some time off from always being in a “doing” mode.
Truth is we need to shift our perspective. Perhaps we will then relish the times in our day where we have a few minutes. We can use this time to meditate, to go sit or lie on somewhere tranquil and nice and let the sun warm our often hagard-looking faces, to recall all that we have to be grateful for. To “Be” is and incredible state of being. One which is critical to our continued growth. It is of great importance that in a way we find the time to be “bored” for this time can be used in many powerful ways.
Meantime, do take some time to pause and smell the roses.
I wish you many precious "bored" moments. ^_^
p/s I already know what some of your comments are gonna be like! :P wakakaka

Your 'karching'
boredom can stem from laziness to explore possibilities, or like u said, being too accustomed to being at the state of work all the time. But for me, its more like lost of interest in doing anything at all lor..hence the boredoom.
if i feel boring, i will try find something to do! if i dnt do anything, means im ZZZZZZ. hahaha!
We have been so distracted by all the modern devices around us that once we are away from these, we suffer the withdrawal syndrome.. is this what we called boredom? lols
"to weary by dullness, tedious repetition, unwelcome attentions, etc."

I think the usage of the word has been over abused.
"Boredom then is quite simply a pattern of thoughts, an action of mulling over doing nothing. We choose to be bored. "
I can't stand being idle, but sometimes, I can't seems to find something satisfying enough to distract myself with.
Anyway, I am a bit of a bore. I am a boring character. In life, i don't think many takes me seriously too. :(
"I am bored" is fast becoming a cliche now haha
I reckon most malaysian would address 'fade-up' as 'bored', LOL... if you ask me how am I feeling now, with 2 rascals I will definitely exclaim, "I am restless!!"!:p
Nice desricption about 'boredoomed'!(wink)
Have a wonderful day ahead!^-^
I'm not bored. I'm just simply burned out ;)
I would say enjoy those times when one is quite relaxed and having nothing much to occupy oneself. It's a time to unwind and stand back and reflect and just be! Don't term it as boredom.
