Are We Really Superior?

One of my recent thoughts that seemed to linger being "what if we were to look at life from the point of view of an animal?" Recent postings in facebook pointing to abuses unto animals have caused me much distress. Putting this thought into action would certainly take the us away from self (to a degree) and into another sentient being. Vantage point changes. Emotional response to outside stimuli might change. Reason may or may not leave the equation, depending on the our decisions about how to cast the animal's "thoughts."

Let’s pretend. How are we to comprehend the malicious and despicable actions of human beings who are supposedly superior?

This exercise is ungraded. Don’t worry.

The poem of an abused animal:
Black is the colour of my master’s hair
His lips are like ripe apples fair
His sweet smile but not the gentlest hands
I spit on the ground whereon he stands.

"Walk on a trail of loving kindness
Walk on a path of compassion
And all else around you will be beautiful."
Every Blessing

My neighbour took in a stray dog as a pet. She whacked the dog and it bit her like hell, refusing to let go. Her hospital bill came to more than 10k. XD

are we really superior? probably in a way that we evolved to have bigger brains and the perks that come with it. but all living things are related, well thanks to bacteria (did you know that all the free oxygen on earth that we are breathing now comes from them?). chloroplasts in plants, mitochondria in cells - they are very likely of bacterial origins.. yes those cockroaches are our distant relatives too. (erm i read too much dawkins haha)

Shane, they are not brainless. They just have bad attitudes.

William, I really don't understand these people. They want the animals as pets and yet do not have the loving kindness to know how to treat them well.

3Quarks, hahahahahha you probably think too much too :P But thanks for sharing, loved the lil piece of info. ;)

Claire, from fb posting, it seemed that the person is a tomboy. She is probably treated badly and venting her frustrations on the poor animals.

Lena, Caroline and Wenn, yes sad indeed. Watching this clip could be a lesson for all of us to be more mindful of our own actions and also be aware not not be so naive to think that there is good in all of us humans.

Medie, long lost memory? mind sharing?

Chris, she actually confessed and asked for forgiveness. Howvere, the authorities are not gonna be lenient on her.

mNhL, I couldn't bring myself to finish viewing too. I just zoomed to the end. It's really sad to hear her explanation that she was depressed due to her parents recent divorce.

Bananaz, definitely karma created with bad repercussions, if not having crossed paths before.

Beng, yes, it's pretty mind-boggling to many of us. Sad isn't it?!

I dare not even watch it but I've heard what the content is. They should really consider having stoning to death as punishment for these sickos.
