New US President

"It took a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get to where we are today, but we have just begun. Today we begin in earnest the work of making sure that the world we leave our children is just a little bit better than the one we inhabit today." ~ Barack Obama

The world will watch the inauguration ceremony today (21.01.09, 1a.m. Malaysian time) in anticipation and hope that this man, only not too long ago that his people were subjected to oppressive laws, would now reign as the "supreme commander" of arguably the most powerful nation in the world.

Somehow, Barack Obama has generated such a universal feeling of action, of possibility that only change can produce even in the face of such enormous obstacles.... he has somehow turned us, the citizens of the world, as one. His win and compassionate actions thus far has wiped away the face of apathy and replaced it with inspired energy.

The fresh air idealism that he has brought to the world must feed us with the sense of oneness needed to create a major shift in the collective conscience and conciousness of all. We Malaysians have proven that, via our March 8th 2008 election and thereafter, the 2 by-elections at Permatang Pauh and Kuala Terengganu. Nevermind the oppressive ruling politicians of Barisan Nasional ..... they are beyond redemption. The march forward should continue for the sake of if not ours, then for the future of the generations to come, bringing a nation to oneness, undivided by the constant-glaring-mention of the races .... Malay, Chinese, Indian, Dayak and so forth.

It is possible, yes we can.
Let the change continue!

I love the statement said "the world we leave our children is just a little bit better than the one we inhabit today". How lovely it is and I really hope we (Malaysian) can accomplish the same as well.

It's the change for the better that we hope for and need. Maybe next time when we mention race in M'sia, we don't need to go with the sequence of Malay, Chinese, Indian or lain-lain.

I really don't think Malaysia can deliver on the “yes we can” mentality that put America and the world on hope and change.

Hope is easy. We all like hope, but whether our politicians are ready and willing to embrace it or not? I doubt. In this country, we may need more hope than usual.

Thats for all the world to see now..

YES WE CAN!

I nearly purchased a T-Shirt endorsing him (while I was on holiday) but I figured it might be bad publicity for President-Elect Obama ... if his face is seen on a himbo's chest. LOL

On another note, yes there is hope for all of us! and family and friends and our comrades *can't believe I am actually using that word* haha

Twilight, up on the Mei Hwa tree is far more safe and comfortable than being eaten by the lion. Keke. What's good about Malaysia? I couldn't think of anything specific. Might as well take the migration form from you. Hold on...not to India right?

Bwahaha... this is blog comment field is a place to flirt?

Barack is pretty darn inspiring. Couldn't have been any other way. Blacks have to be so much better than their white counterparts to become president.

However, if he can even give the coming economic depression PAUSE, that'd make him a super-hero historically. It's never been done.

Ban ~ no la...juz teasing them. They happen to be 2 great peeps. :)
1st time here? Mighty pleased and thank you so much :)

Yup, agreed that he has got a huge load on his shoulders. Incoming ppl always hv it hard, esp since it has been mismanaged by the predecessor.

I am just glad they broke thru the race barrier.
