Thank You Bloggers!

This is the time of year where our energy, our enthusiasm, is supposed to be in high gear. Most of us lucky ones are running around buying things, decorating our houses, and delivering gifts to people to whom, have played an important role in our lives. For most, this trend will probably continue right up to Chinese New Year. Add to these activities, the societal expectation that we be enthusiastic.


Many of us love to be around enthusiastic people. Some of us enjoy surrounding themselves with creatures that, by their very nature, are enthusiastic. Babies, children, puppies, kittens, comedians and entertaining bloggers especially Fable and Twilight who have put heaps of smiles and laughter on my face these past few months - come out tops in the enthusiasm category.


However, bad life experiences clouds our natural enthusiasm. Disappointments, deaths of loved ones, financial reversals, and our own health problems - these challenges can dim that once "natural enthusiasm" we had as young children.


I remembered having read Everyday Holiness by Alan Morinis, that explained "Laziness, excessive deliberation, rationalization, and the endless pursuit of material pleasures ALL deplete enthusiasm." In subsequent paragraphs, the author went on further to discuss how "worry" strips us of our enthusiasm.


I realized that I've done too much "worrying" in 2008.


So, in order to pump up my natural zest for life, and stop worrying about everything "from soup to nuts!", I decided to approach 2009 with a simple resolution of a balance of work, play and rest, the latter two having taken a backseat in 2008. Having proposed to myself that it is the path I'm going to lead for the coming year and beyond, I'm going to be less organized and more spontaneous. Spicing up my life with soon-to-have frequent trips to the spa, MPO, re-entry to nearly-forgotten night boogie and dining hangouts, and the occasional impromptu trips abroad, either naughty or nice ones, would be a welcome respite from all stress from work that I know I'm still going to be enslaved to.


And I'll be open to meeting special people again, even if they are blind dates. Any takers??? :)


All kidding aside, at this time of the year and quoting His Holiness The Dalai Lama that, "Peaceful living is about trusting those on whom we depend and caring for those who depend on us", I pray and wish your loved-ones and you peaceful living, great health and much wealth (wealth of wisdom, kindness, compassion, friendships and of course $$$) for the new year.
